Tax statements are mailed on or before October 25, to each property owner in the county. If you do not receive your statement by November 1, please call the Tax Department at (541)426-4543 ext. 1155
Property taxes may be paid in installments using one of the following schedules:
Full payment – Pay the “Full Payment” amount on or before November 15 and receive a 3% discount.
2/3 payment – Pay the “2/3 Payment” amount on or before November 15 and receive a 2% discount. The final one-third payment is due by May 15.
1/3 payment – Pay the “1/3 Payment” amount on or before November 15. There is no discount. The second one-third payment is due by February 15, and the final one-third payment is due by May 15. Please mark your calendars regarding these due dates, the County does not send out reminder notices.
Property tax payments must be applied to the oldest tax year owing.
Interest is charged on any past due installment for the schedule you are following. By Oregon law (ORS 311.505), the interest rate is 1.333% per month or fraction of a month until paid.
Payment by mail
When paying by mail, please return the lower portion of your tax statement(s) with your payment using the enclosed envelope. Do not send cash through the mail. Write your account number(s) on the front of your check to ensure proper credit. Your canceled check is your receipt. Or you can enclose a self addressed stamped envelope(SASE) and a receipt will be mailed to you. Be sure to mail your payment early enough to be postmarked on or before November 15. Payments postmarked November 16 and later lose all discounts and are charged interest.
Payment in Person
Payments in person must be brought to the Tax Office during regular business hours. There is a payment drop in the door of the office, if the office is closed.

Color of Statements
If your property tax statement is yellow, it means that a mortgage company has requested your tax statement. Seniors taking part in the Senior Citizens Property Tax Deferral Program also receive a yellow tax statement. If your mortgage company or the Senior Citizens Property Tax deferral Program pays your property taxes for you, then this statement is for your records.
If your property tax statement is green, it simply means that no mortgage company has requested your tax statement. If you have recently refinanced or changed lenders, your mortgage company may not have requested your tax statements.
The property owner is responsible for making sure that property taxes are paid. If you are not sure who is supposed to pay your property taxes, please call your mortgage company.
