Applicants must be 18 years of age. If you are 17 years of age applicants may obtain a marriage license when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be required to sign a consent form. Both applicants must appear in person. Marriage licenses are not issued through the mail. Please bring your driver’s license or other ID with you.
A license may be purchased in any county within Oregon and it may be used only in the State of Oregon.
The fee for the license is $50.00 payable by cash, money order, check, credit or debit cards.
After the license is issued there is a three (3) day waiting period before the license may be used. You may request a waiver of the waiting period. The license is effective for 60 days and will expire after that time if not used. No medical examinations or blood tests are required.
After the ceremony has taken place, the completed marriage license must be returned to the Clerk’s office within five days of the marriage. A certified copy can be obtained from the County Clerk’s Office for $4.00. The certified copy is a legal copy and may be used for DMV, social security card or any agency requiring proof of name change.
